Cake Constructions Sculpture
My artwork has been largely influenced by years of employment in both construction and scenery production. This cross disciplinary approach to building has led to a surreal - hobbyist aesthetic that is informed yet imaginative. Using a wide range of materials and subject matter I have created a parallel reality which is best described as an urban fairy tale. A visceral backdrop of theoretical landscapes made up of miniature building and demolition sites sets the stage for the more intimate objects that would be found there. These works take on the attributes of artifacts, through their intentional expression of a cultural madness. They possess a “believability” that extends to and supports the landscape sculptures. By combining these different kinds of pieces, the viewer can sense a personified tension that exists in man-made objects.
